Project overview
The object of this case study is to effectively communicate NaturCycle's core values, unique selling points, and dedication to sustainability while creating a strong brand presence. Introducing a mobile app is essential to make the brand easily accessible and familiar to customers, ensuring that the company maintains competitiveness and meets customer expectations.
Client Problems
To showcase NaturCycle's strong brand presence utilizing environmentally friendly and innovative skincare crafted from recycled human waste, it's crucial to appeal to those who may not be familiar with us. Given the prevalent reliance on mobile devices, introducing a mobile application becomes essential to effectively reach and engage customers.
How can we create an app that powerfully communicates NaturCycle's objectives while also delivering an appealing experience for customers in this mobile-centric era?
Goals
The goal of this case study is to develop a user experience that strongly reflects NaturCycle's brand identity while meeting the expectations of the target audience. The developed app aims to ultimately enhance NaturCycle's brand awareness, consumer satisfaction, and loyalty by creating a user-friendly and efficient mobile application.
The Challenge
The challenge in this case study lies in efficiently integrating with various mobile devices, providing appropriate and accurate information for users unfamiliar with the concept of recycling human waste, and effectively conveying the brand message of sustainability. Additionally, there is a potential concern in maintaining a balance between innovation and user familiarity and acceptance.
Project Vision
The vision for this project is to design an app for NaturCycle that establishes a strong brand presence, evolving it into an essential destination for environmentally conscious consumers. Users should be able to access accurate information through the app, enhancing their understanding of human waste recycling, and receive expert guidance and education tailored to their individual needs.
User Research
Competitive Analysis
Initially, I researched the current market to identify existing competitors, assessing both their strengths and weaknesses. This analysis served as a foundation for developing strategies to enhance the user experience.

User Flow
The initial user flow, crafted based on Sofia Mitchell's persona, underwent improvements and updates following feedback from potential users. More specific steps were included to enhance the user experience. Subsequently, an Information Architecture (IA) sitemap was crafted to visually represent the entire application's content and user flow, ensuring a comprehensive overview of the system's structure and navigation.

Reflections
This project marked my first end-to-end case study, making it a profoundly meaningful experience. Initially, the process seemed daunting as it was my first attempt, but with time, I felt a gradual sense of growth with each step. While using various apps in my daily life, I had never deeply contemplated the process of creating one. Through this case study, I had the hands-on experience of realizing the intricate details and efforts invested in an app.
The challenges encountered in translating abstract design ideas into reality were substantial. However, overcoming these challenges brought a sense of accomplishment that words cannot adequately convey. Throughout tasks like competitive analysis, persona creation, empathy mapping, user journey mapping, wireframing, and more, the experience of assimilating diverse feedback and incorporating it into the design process was enlightening. The feedback from others significantly contributed to advancing my thoughts and design.
Building upon the lessons learned from this project, I am committed to continuous efforts in delivering enhanced designs and user experiences in future projects. Anticipating new challenges and growth, I eagerly look forward to the next project.
